Coffee, good or bad?
Coffee, good or bad? If you’re a coffee lover but want to eat and drink to stay healthy, all the reports and information on coffee are so conflicting and confusing! Some say drink it, it helps you stay healthy and keeps your brain sharp, and other reports say to stay away…it stimulates the production of cortisol which causes inflammation and contributes to disease and premature aging. So, the question remains…coffee, good or bad? Dr. Mark Hyman, one of my favorite nutritional gurus, wrote a fantastic post on this very subject titled Is Coffee Good or Bad for You? In it, he writes, “In a recent animal study, researchers saw improvements…

Pat Summitt and Alzheimer’s Disease – How is Your Brain Health??
Pat Summitt and Alzheimer’s Disease I want to address Pat Summitt and Alzheimer’s Disease. Pat Summitt coached more winning college basketball games than any other coach in college basketball history… men’s or women’s! Pat succumbed to early onset Alzheimer’s Disease last week at the age of 64. She had been diagnosed 5 years ago at the age of 59, but continued to coach despite doctor’s warnings she should retire immediately. Pat Summit was one tough lady, but it makes me wonder about our world today and why so many of us are being stricken with Alzheimer’s and dementia. My own mother died of end stage dementia, and I can tell…

SAM-e…for me, it was a miracle…
SAM-e…is it that good? Yes, yes it is! I forgot SAM-e is great for your joints! It helps with transulfuration which is the process that produces healthy connective tissue. It supports critical components of that connective tissue by aiding in the production of L-cysteine, an amino acid and other components which are needed to make cartilage, ligaments, tendons and bone. It’s so important to maintain our joint strength and flexibility as we get older, and this helps immensely. I was so focused before on taking SAM-e to help my depression I completely forgot this benefit. Another benefit is improved liver function. SAM-e aids in the production of glutathione which helps…
