Healthy Eating Habits to Adopt in 2014
Healthy Eating Habits to Adopt in 2014 We’re still early into 2014, so let’s talk about some healthy eating habits you can adopt this year. A habit can be either good or bad, so let’s make sure your new habits are healthy ones that will serve you well this year and beyond! When we view healthy eating habits as a choice and not something that’s been forced upon us, we become empowered and excited to incorporate those habits into our life style. Gluten Free Diet – How Do I Start?
Gluten Free Diet – What’s on the Menu, What’s Not? Eating a gluten free diet can be a great way to improve your mental and physical health and lose some weight; sometimes a significant amount of weight. While statistics vary on how many people are allergic or sensitive to gluten, from my own experience and from people I talk to, I suspect it’s considerably higher than we think. Trying to adopt a gluten free lifestyle can be overwhelming and confusing. It’s difficult to know which foods are gluten free and which foods aren’t as there’s a lot of conflicting information. Let’s take a basic look at what is allowed on…

Subway bread maybe not so fresh?
Subway bread contains a chemical used in making rubber soles. As if there aren’t already enough reasons to skip a “meal” at a fast food restaurant, here’s one more…and it’s a doozy! Did you have any idea that when you’ve been swinging by Subway to “Eat Fresh”, you’ve been getting a helping of a chemical that’s used in yoga mats, the soles of shoes and other rubber products?! It’s gross, but it’s true!! Subway bread contains a nasty chemical that behaves as a dough conditioner… azodicarbonamide. It makes bread dough easier to work with, and so fast food restaurants like Subway, McDonald’s and others have been using it in their bread. Prolonged exposure to this chemical…

An Easy, Healthy Meal on the Run…think protein powder…
Did it ever occur to you we may be on a hit list? Not a hit parade list, but a kill ’em off hit list? It’s occurred to me the more I learn about fast food, the FDA, health care and MONEY! If you think the fast food and the drug industries want you to be healthy, think again!. There’s no profit for them in you being well; there’s no financial gain for big pharma in you healing yourself with food. Do you really listen to the ads for drugs on TV? I’ve been listening lately with different ears…the happy voices that tell us our skin may be clearer or…

Update on Eggs and Joint Discomfort – 6 Days Later…
Eggs and Joint Discomfort My last writing was about the fact that I suspected my sudden joint discomfort was a result of eating at least 2 eggs almost every day. Well… I have good news and bad news…the good news is that I stopped eating eggs 6 days ago and my joints are feeling a lot better. The bad news is that I stopped eating eggs and my joints are feeling better. Honestly, I am so bummed! I love eggs for breakfast. Plus, I had just perfected the poached egg thing. I really was making great poached eggs. No waste, just tender and custardy…hmmm. For those of you who are…

Eggs and joint pain…could it be the eggs???…
Eggs and joint pain…could it be the eggs…oh no! I love eggs…as an adult, that is. As a child, not so much. I liked the white, but the yolk was too heavy and strong tasting for my liking. With this journey of changing how I eat, one of the biggest challenges has been what kind of protein to have for breakfast to keep everything balanced. How much smoked salmon can one person eat? And I haven’t eaten meat in almost 30 years. Dairy is no longer on the menu which nixes yogurt, cheese and milk, so in recent weeks or months (I forget how long it’s been), I’ve been eating two eggs…
