Water bottles…is your drinking water safe?

Safe water bottlesSafe Water Bottles…do you know what you’re drinking?

These water bottles are so cool!

Two years ago, I was at an online marketing conference in Las Vegas. One of the people attending had a water bottle that just looked different. I saw the man pouring the water the rest of us were drinking from the pitcher into the bottle, so I asked him about it. He said it had a built in filter that took toxins out of the water.

At that time, I was well into my new eating adventure, and was becoming aware of the dangers presented by our water supply. Additives like chlorine and fluoride were not things I wanted in my drinking water.

At my house, we have well water, so our water doesn’t have the usual municipal water treatments. We have a choice there to drink simple water. Of course, we need to test it from time to time, but we are free to drink water that isn’t chlorinated or fluoridated.

Chlorine has been used in the water supply to combat microbial contamination, but it is now known to react with organic matter in the water and can form carcinogens. As long ago as 1992, it was reported that a study published in the American Journal of Public Health found that people who regularly drink tap water containing high levels of chlorine have a greater risk of developing some cancers than those who drink non-chlorinated water.

The fluoride now found in approximately 90% of drinking water is hydrofluoric acid. It’s a compound of fluorine which is a chemical byproduct of aluminum, cement, phosphate, steel and nuclear weapons manufacturing. In this manmade form, fluoride is one of the most caustic industrial chemicals… so caustic in fact, that it’s the toxin in rat poison and cockroach powder.

There’s also the concern about plastic bottles not being bpa free, and for me, there’s definitely a concern about our carbon footprint and cutting way back on the plastic bottles we go use.

I bought one of the bottles from Clearly Filtered, and I love it!  I love it so much that I wanted to share it with you!

I take it with me when I travel, when I’m in a hotel and just when I’m out and about in the car for the day. I can fill it anywhere with complete confidence that I will be drinking

The one I chose is the Insulated Stainless Filter Bottle, because I love that it keeps water cool for 24 hours. There are other models to choose from, so if you want to take a look, here’s a link to the Clearly Filtered website.

It’s a product I am very happy with, and I’m not that easy to please…
