Perseverance…in diet and in life…it’s everything

PerseverancePerseverance

The topic of this post is a bit different than what I usually share.  I want to address the topic of perseverance and share a recent personal story.

Perseverance relates to all aspects of our lives including health and healthy eating.  Staying on track with the best food choices is not always the easiest or the most popular way to go.  I speak from personal experience as this weekend I attended a family event with great food, not all of which were the best choices for me.

My solution in these cases is most often to sample a small bit of the foods that are delicious but that may not be great choices for me on a daily basis.  This way I don’t feel deprived, and I also don’t go completely off the rails.  I have to remind myself though that eating is a slippery slope when you venture off track.  I’ve found the secret is to get right back on the healthy eating bandwagon and not to be upset with myself for sampling a bit widely.  So, persevere with your health eating plan; that way occasional “treats” won’t get you into trouble.

Perseverance also relates to goals you have that may be extremely challenging and may take more time than you would like.  I speak from experience here as well.  I’ve been in the process of writing a book about my accidental recovery from chronic depression.  It’s the story of where I was, where I am today and how I arrived here.

Writing a book has been a real challenge as very honestly, it was not something I had ever thought of doing.  I was moved to persevere and push through to the finish line as what happened to me with “disappearing depression” can happen to others as well.  It’s worth the work to be able to share this discovery and this journey of mine.

I’m approaching the finish line with the book cover being designed as we speak.  The expected availability date is November 1st on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and in book stores.  I’ve even had a publishing company offer to publish it, so that’s been incredibly exciting!

I never thought I would write a book, but I’ve done it.  The title is “Eat Your Blues Away” which is exactly what I’ve done!

You may think you can never lose weight, recover from depression, be healthier, etc.  I promise you can do it.  You need a plan, a mentor or guide and perseverance to find your way.  My hope is that this book will help people push forward and persevere to discover a healthier, happier version of themselves.

If I can do it…you can do it!
