Let’s spend some time talking about what you can do to improve your gut health!
Over the next week or two, we’ll discuss five different steps you can take to improve your digestive health also known as your gut health. Each of these steps will have a significant impact on your overall mental and physical well being. Your mental and physical health are intricately linked. Remember; you are what you eat!
Attempting to adopt all the steps into your lifestyle at once can feel overwhelming. We want you to succeed, so we’ll take it slowly. First, decide what you’d like your changes to be. It might be losing some weight or improving the state of your gut health so you don’t have digestive problems all the time. Some people struggle with chronic constipation, and this can really upset your body’s inner workings and your health in general. Letting waste that should be eliminated sit in your body allows your body to absorb toxins that should have been eliminated if everything were working as it should. Set goals, create a plan and give yourself some time to make each step a habit and a part of your daily routine. You’ll find some steps will be easier to incorporate into your lifestyle and will resonate with you more than others.
Keep in mind we’re looking for progress, not perfection; especially not in the beginning of this journey to better health. Anytime you fall short of your expectations or goals, assess what happened, make changes, forgive yourself and move forward. Good health and well being are a lifelong pursuit, not an overnight achievement.
On that note, in the next blog, we’ll begin with the first step towards good gut health – it may be the most difficult yet most powerful step you can take for your health… eating whole, unprocessed foods.
