Cuisinart Work Bowl…my new kitchen toy is a great little machine!

Cuisinart Work Bowl

I have to share my favorite new kitchen toy with you (my Cuisinart Work Bowl…)  Actually, it’s a great piece of kitchen equipment, but it’s also fun to use, so that’s where the “toy” part kicks in.  I do love my gadgets!

I saw this one on Hubert Keller’s cooking show on Create a few weeks ago.   You know when something catches your attention, you’re suddenly aware of it and see it everywhere?  That’s what happened with this!

There is a back story to the new gadget; Rob gave me a “Dutchie” for Christmas which is a large cast iron Dutch Oven.  It wasn’t quite right, so we returned it.  I really wanted one just a bit larger (you know by now I like to cook a big soup or a big stew and tweak it for several dinners; my goal is to make healthy eating faster and easier for both you and for me!).

I also wanted a little different shape.  The first one was a little too narrow and deep.  I wanted one that was more squat with more surface area so I could sauté more easily and then create a hot spot separate from the onions and mushrooms where I could easily sauté the minced garlic that I use so often.

We searched everywhere and finally found a six quart Dutch Oven that is perfect by Emeril Lagasse.  Here’s a link for you in case you want to check it out, too.

While we were searching for the perfect Dutchie, we visited quite a few stores.  I was beginning to feel like Goldilocks…  During the search, we saw the Cuisinart 4-Cup Work Bowl I had seen on Hubert Keller’s cooking show on the Create channel.  This is the most amazing little machine. My favorite thing is that it’s impossible to cut off any fingers!  It has to be completely locked down to work at all.  Very, very safe.

It’s perfect for mincing whole cloves of garlic.  In fact, it just seems to release more fragrance and flavor than simply mincing with a knife on a cutting board.  I don’t get it, but it makes a big difference.  Clean up is easy, it’s a great piece of kitchen equipment as it chops and grinds with the touch of a button.

Check it out.  It’s a solidly made item that fits easily on your kitchen counter, and you’ll use it often!
